Introduced to this world in Gary, Indiana, by Orena Joy and (late) Barney, he departed nearly 60 years later battling stroke. A passionate man, he helped raise his three siblings: Tommy, Ethel (Bennett), Cathy (McCoy); while entertaining northern Indiana with his rock music and making life-long friends.

After graduation from Lew Wallace, he enlisted into the Marines serving a tour in Vietnam, earning three Purple-Hearts and Navy Commendation Medal. He re-located to Nashville in 1970 with first-wife Joan continuing his music aspirations and raising a family with eldest daughter Jessica.
