Thomas A. Lee
August 10, 2010
Surrounded by family and many friends, Tommy left this world for a better place on August 10, 2010.
Tommy was born at home in Chicago, IL on January 12, 1938 to the late George and Leona Lee.
His school years were spent in Chicago, but he loved all of the entire summers he spent at his grandparent’s, the late Arthur and Helen Washack, “Cottage” in Fish Lake, IN. In 1982, he married his wife, Maureen (Hausser) at the “Cottage” and moved to Fish Lake, IN. He was in construction for over 50 years, a carpenter by trade, and still enjoyed working, especially tile and trim. He and his wife were owners of Lee’s Construction & Design. He had an “old fashion” work ethic and his word was everything. The grandkids would say grandpa could fix anything. Tommy especially enjoyed competitive bass fishing and traveled far to do so. He also enjoyed hunting “games of chance,” NASCAR, working on boats, playing poker and animals. Tommy was a long time patron of Ye Ole Pipe Shoppe and a founding member and past president of Fish Lake Bassmasters.
Left behind to miss him, besides his loving wife, are two daughters, Charlene Marie (George) Tabler of Joliet, IL, and Barbara Ann (Eddie) Kogut of Fish Lake, IN. There are also five grandchildren he especially loved and enjoyed, Jacob Connor Tabler, Noah Hunter Tabler, Evan Spencer Tabler, “Joey” Kogut and Jacqueline Diana Kogut.
Preceding him in death was a sister, Donna Fanning; and a son, Michael Lee.
All who know Tommy know he had a real zest for life and was truly “one of a kind,” and a “social butterfly.”
Family and friends are invited to share a celebration of his life at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, IN, at 2 p.m., on Sunday, August 15, 2010.
