Obituary for Mary G. Woodrick

Mary G. Woodrick, 81, of Michigan City, passed away peacefully at 8:37 a.m., Monday, March 11, 2019 at Regency Hospital, Portage, IN.

She was born November 24, 1937, in Michigan City, to Walter W. and Joyce (Ballard) Ganschow.

Mary was a 1955 graduate of Elston High School and attended South Bend College of Commerce. She worked in the office at Trinity Episcopal Church and went on to work in the South Shore office. Mary was an active lifelong member of Trinity Episcopal Church as the organist and also sang in the choir. She had been a member of the Girl Scouts for 25 years. After moving with her husband to the Woodrick family farm, Mary worked in the fields until her three sons were old enough to help. She then took over bookkeeping and tax preparation for the farm, now known as Heartbreak Ridge Dairy Farm.

On November 30, 1957, in Michigan City, she married Lester E. Woodrick, who preceded her in death August 14, 2011.

Also preceding in death were her parents; and one brother, John Ganschow.

Surviving are her 3 sons, Paul (Jackie) Woodrick of Sherman, TX, James Woodrick of Michigan City and Stephen (Beth) Woodrick of Michigan City; 8 grandchildren, Chad (Sarah), Emigh (Saka), Joshua (Megan), Keela, Hannah, Jack, Adam and Ashley; ten great grandchildren; and life-long friend, Charmin Melnick.

A funeral celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, March 15, 2019 at Trinity Episcopal Church, 600 Franklin Square, Michigan City, with Rev. Joseph Czolgosz officiating. Visitation and viewing will be held from 4 – 7 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte (219) 362-3100 and from 10 a.m., Friday until time of service at the church. A wake service will be held at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Springville Cemetery, La Porte.
