Obituary for Samantha "Sam" Hill

Samantha “Sam” Eileen Hill, 36, of La Porte, passed away peacefully at 5:42 a.m., Sunday, November 24, 2019 at La Porte Hospital.

She was born May 10, 1983, in Michigan City, Indiana, to Lola Eileen (Shupe) Voorhees.

Samantha was a homemaker who loved life and family. She enjoyed spending time with her children and going over board cooking and baking for the holidays. Samantha was a fun, happy go lucky, easy going, outgoing person who loved to joke around.

On July 17, 2017, in Michigan City, Indiana, she married Grayling Hill, who survives.

Also surviving are her mother, Lola (Jesse) Voorhees of Michigan City; five children, Sylvia and Marisol Reyes both of Michigan City, Jason Geigler Jr. of Three Oaks, MI and Emily and Arabella Hill both of La Porte; four sisters, Catrena Hanna and Lola Geese both of Iowa, Rose Montano of Michigan City and Renee (Raymond) Underwood of La Porte; two brothers, Edgar (Alizabeth) Gesse Jr. of Michigan City and Jeremy (Heather) Voorhees of La Porte; mother-in-law, Mary Mitchell of Michigan City; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family members.

Preceding in death were her maternal grandparents, Russell Shupe and Joan Voorhees Sr.; paternal grandparents, Arnold and Francis Gesse; two nephews, Keith Hanna and Jeramija Samys-Gesse; and one aunt, Margaret Kathy Higgins.

Cremation will take place. A private service celebrating her life will be held. Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd., La Porte, (219) 362-3100 is caring for the arrangements.
