Obituary for Larry D Brown

Larry D. Brown, 73, of Michigan City, passed away unexpectedly at 6:39 p.m., Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Memorial Hospital, South Bend, IN.

He was born January 12, 1945, in Harrisburg, Illinois, to Nigel and Jessie (Brunner) Brown.

Larry was a man of many talents. He was formerly trained as an engineer and worked for many years at Bethlehem Steel. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. Larry earned a Good Conduct Medal, a National Defense Service Medal and was a Sharpshooter with a rifle. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Organization. Larry also enjoyed putting together model cars, shooting guns, and collecting them. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and in his younger years, he loved fishing and will always be remembered for his green thumb.

On May 27, 1978, Larry married the love of his life, Joan Tylinski, who survives.

Also surviving are two stepdaughters, Cherie (Gary) Plunk of Michigan, City, IN, Candy Beach of Chesterton, IN; one sister, Patricia Brummett of Washington State; five grandchildren, Alex, Nathan, Christian, Elijah, Miracle; and one great grandchild, Hope.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers, and one sister.

A funeral celebrating his life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Lakeview Funeral Home & Crematory, 247 W. Johnson Rd, La Porte, (219) 362-3100. Visitation and viewing will be from 11 a.m. until time of service Saturday at the funeral home.
